I was looking at the Sun Now on the Solar Dynamics Observatory site. Oh that long filament and interesting north limb proms seemed like a target for my PST. So yes observed it and then drew it. Easter Saturday North Limb proms and filaments on the disc. 13:00 UT - 13:55 UT PST 40 - 8 mm eyepiece using Pastels , on black paper.

Dee.

First time you post a sketch here ? You have a very different technique as most peoples. Very nice representation of the surface granulation. Congratulation. Hope to see more from you.

Andre.

Dee.

You are a woman... Fun to see how names can tell the sex. Nice to meet a solar devoted woman. I checked your website, you have done very unusual things with the kids.

Congratulation.

Andre.

Yes Andre indeed I am a woman :watching: observer of both the sun and the moon. In fact myself and two other women Sally Russell and Erika Rix did a book on lunar sketching some time ago. Richard Handy and the wonderful Frank above were part of the moon sketching group. :-) Sketching the Moon an Astronomical Artists Guide.

Thanks Rolandlinda :-)

Great drawing Dee. The more I see the solar drawings the more I am now wanting a small PST. For now I use a sun funnel and even my 2 year old daughter asks to see the Sunspots with her older sister. I am enjoying reading your site. I of course have Turn Left at Orion so I especially liked the presentation pictures.

That's a very lovely sketch, Dee. I love pastel work and you surely master this medium divinely!

Hope to see more of your work here!

Absolutely fantastic drawing, Dee! I'm stunned by the amount of detail and the spectacular "feeling" it gives. My compliments!
