Greetings all,
Here's a Saturn observation I made last night. This is my first observation of the planet in the 2012-13 apparition, the weather has been that bad until yesterday! There were a number of interesting features, these are as follows:

-EB seems to be present in the EZ
-NEB broad and contains two component belts, separated by a brownish coloured zone. The NEB seemed to be the darkest of the two belts.
-The NEBz seemed to contain some subtle structures which looked like lighter and darker regions. Darker sections in both belts could also be seen
-NTB a little easier to see this time
-A greenish hugh present in both the NTropZ and the NTZ.
-NPC very dark. It did appear completely round and at no times was any angularity suspected.
-Slight brownish cast to the outer half of the A-Ring?
-B1-Ring seemed to be more yellowish than white.
-C-Ring visible but easier in the ansae centre either side of the planet. C-Ring brighter on the fol. side?

Intensities were made in IL and in filters. Interestingly, the A-Ring appeared to much darker in a red W#25A. The whole image was much more stable in a W#25A.

Best wishes.
-Paul

I also spotted the Comet for the first time (the clouds had been covering it until then) It looked quite splendid in my pair of 10x50s.

Wow!!! :jawdrop: What a beautiful drawing, or should I say painting? Apart from the hour behind the eyepiece I'm sure that you spent even a lot more time elaborating this piece of art? Respect, Paul!!!

Many thanks for the kind words! I don't actually regard this as art though, no are my drawings made in an artistic way. I see it as a technical drawing, it looks nice because Saturn is nice, however it was recorded in an objective and honest (as possible) manner, with subjective impressions withheld as much as possible.

Regards,
-Paul

Paul,

It is not possible to top a great sketch of planet Saturn.
It looks about as good as it ever gets here.

Hi Paul, excellent observation as always - thanks for sharing it with us! :)
And congratulations on your first sighting of the comet.
Through my 11x70s, it looks just like a badminton shuttlecock.
