I just purchased a Celestron VX mount to replace my CG-5 computer controlled mount. I use it with my Celestron C-8 sct as my main scope. I also have a Celestron 6SE telescope setup, a William Optics Megrez 90 ota, a Coronado PST and a Skywatcher AZ4 Alt-azimuth mount. I will be selling my CG-5 mount and need something else to go. I will keep the PST but the 6SE setup or Megrez ota has to go. I am torn between the two. What would you do?...Just looking for your opinion.

Thanks,

David

I'm pretty close to the same equipment that you have and if I had to thin things out I think I would keep the WO 90 and let go of the 6SE. I really like my C8 and use it most of all, but it's nice to have the smaller C6 for the portability. It's mostly a convenience having the 2 SCT, but the refractor will still give you those good clear wide field views that you can't get with the SCT.

I agree, the C8 and the 6SE are so close I'd let go of the 6..

I'm getting the same response as what I was intending to do...sell the 6SE telescope. I like the 6SE for its simple setup and ease of transportation, but the scope size is rather close to the C8. It's tough to let go when you really enjoy using all your scopes...Thanks.

Keep the Nexstar SE mount and ditch the C6 OTA. The C8 will run on that mount, and you can add a dovetail and L bracket from Desert Sky Astro to allow use of the PST on that mont as well.

Jim

Hi David, I'd keep the Megrez 90 and the C8 and sell the C6. The Megrez is a better complement to the C8 (big picture versus detailed view)....

Best regards,

I'd follow Mark's advice. The C8 and WO 90 complement each other well.

I am also thinking the megrez would be an optimal cool down scope for the c8(or c6). I understand the reluctance to get rid of the c6. I read glowing reviews of them.
