Hi All,

I picked up this side table set by Lumicon on Cnights. It was made for a Meade but at the price I decided to give it a try on my NS8. Some notes on the install:

1) Surprisingly the holes all lined up. Had counter sunk holes just like the starizona landing pad for bolting to tirpod.

2) The holes the bolts go thru to attache the Mount to the tripod needed enlarged.

3) I enlarged them to about 5/8 and inch This allowed me to place "e clips" on them so the bolts are not affixed to the tripod.

4) I placed a few delron stops on the table to help in positioning the scope.

All in all it works real well. I now have side tables, bolts are captive to the tripod, and I have alignment guides for getting scope in correct position for bolts.

Very, very nice!!! It looks like you can swing the side table to get it into various positions. That's a real plus. And I really like the eyepiece holder. All right at your finger tips!! That is a good, very practical setup. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing!!

Another plus was the integrated level...Not sure if Lumicon still makes this...it is really built well...I think the table is 1/4 inch aluminum plate that has a very nice anodized finish...Lumicon really builds good stuff...

The swinging side table is also very easily detached if you do not want it...

I notice that Lumicon designs these for Meade SCTs only. I wonder why they have not come up with a version for the Celestron CPCs? Seems like they would sell well.

I tooo wondered....especially since the mdification to a Celestron tripod was not too tuff. The countersunk holes for attaching to the tripod lined up perfectly. As did the holes for the screws that attach the tripod to the Mount/OTA, although they needed enlarged. lastly I had to move the delron posts to handle the larger base of the NS 8.

Yep, don't understand why most of these sorts of mods are Meade only.
