While bebopping near the Canus Major/Puppis border region this evening, using the 12" dob and 30mm 2" EP (51x), I saw a bright, tight double. Separation was just enough @ 51x to see both stars separate and round. Both were white and, together, looked like distant car headlights from a couple of miles away (without glare). They WERE separate but had they been any closer, they would have merged. Was this Xi Puppis?
Was it Xi Puppis I saw?
