I have a CGE with two counterweights. On one of the counterweights the plastic "T" handle has shattered on the lock knob. Has anyone found a source of replacements for these knobs?

Not my mount, but a good picture of the CW with the lock knob visible.

Thanks!

That's a weak part. I bought a new CGE when they first came out and one of the included counterweights arrived with that knob shattered. C replaced it. I think they are threaded 1/4 X 20 - if so, Scopestuff can fix you up.

Jim. I've run into the same problem and wonder if you were able to resolve the issue through Scopestuff and if so which knobs did you get?

Thanks,
Khavar

That's a pretty sizeable CW. Not as convienent but wouldn't it be safer to use a socket-head bolt instead?

If I'm not mistaken, the 25# CGE counterweights share the same type knobs with the losmandy 21#. Losmandy sells them for 8 bucks each. Item CWTS.

I emailed Anthony at ADM and will be shipping my counterweight screw to him. He will make a knob for me. I'll post back when it arrives.

Yup, those are the ones. I need to measure my broken one. $8 a pop is a little steep for a screw with a plastic flange.

Hi Charles.

When the plastic flange shatters, that's what you end up with - hex socket headed nylon tipped partially threaded screw. So technically I can use the second weight as-is; I just need to make sure that I have the right allen wrench on hand to tighten it. It's a convenience issue more than anything else.

Regards,

Jim
