I recently purchased this edition of "Atlas of the Moon". My question is: for a used, but very good/like new copy, what is the average price for this atlas? I am just curious if I got a good deal.

I think the Rukl book is an outstanding guide/atlas. However there are other nice guides and atlases out there too. If you want to make a few bucks put it for sale. It might or might not sell.

Do they sell? I put a copy up for sale on here for less then that. Not one nibble.

Prices are all over the place on this atlas. I got a mint 1996 version a couple of months ago for $42.50 on AbeBooks.com. I haven't tracked the 1991 edition, so I don't know if it's more or less valuable than the others.

Whenever I need to consult this book I just check out the copy in my local library. I must be the only person who loans it out.

Does it matter? You wanted it, and the price wasn't more than you wanted to pay - what else matters? (Sometimes it's better not to know!)

Rick, that is true. I guess it doesn't matter, but I do like to catch a bargain! I paid $4 for my copy. Needless to say, I was quite happy when I saw the price, and even happier when it arrived in almost new condition. :jump:

I think that to say you got a great deal is beyond understatement! :waytogo:

With a $4 price, I'm not even sure why you asked the question. Could there be s better deal?

I don't think I could have gotten a better deal. I was just curious as to how good a deal I got. I couldn't believe the price when I first saw it!

What you can convince someone to pay for one. ;)

Those prices on Amazon are bot generated and have no connection with reality, BTW.

Rukl's atlas is great if you are happy with its level of detail, but I wouldn't pay too much for one. There are newer resources like Charles Wood's atlas or the free Virtual Moon Atlas software which offer more detail.

Can you give details on where you found it? Was this one of those 1-cent amazon deals plus $3.99 shipping?

I agree that I have never actually heard of anyone paying like $100 for a copy of Rukl. I would have been quite disappointed I paid that much. I like it, but often find the maps too small (more times than not I'm looking at detail that spans two pages...)

I've had 2 copies. One I found at a Half Price Books for $7. It was a matter of calling every used book store in town and just asking if they had it.

Hey, the publishing house Aventinum remade the Atlas of the Moon three months ago. They have it in 5 languages for about $55 + shipping.
