My CG-5 often does not meridian flip when I'm on an object and tell it to go there again. And when it is past meridian and I tell it to go to another object, it will sometimes say the slew failed.

I sometimes have to power down the mount and realign, then go to my object.

I'm obviously missing something because this is beyond annoying and totally prevents me from using automation to do automatic meridian flips.

I often but not always run with NexRemote.

Thanks for any insight.

A few questions ...

Are the actions any different between the real HC and NexRemote?
What version firmware are you using? (for both the real HC and NexRemote)
Any filter limits set?
Any other issues doing long goto slews?
What power source are you using for your CG-5?

Nice gallery of images.

Looking into this further, during the light of day, it appears that:

1) When using NexRemote, settings you make like tracking rates and such get saved in the hand controller.

2) Somehow, my Meridian setting got set to disabled. I must have done this at some point for who knows what reason. I reset it to current which is I believe what I want. I want it to go to the side of meridian that the object really is on. Favor East or Favor West would not do that.

Hopefully, this has it sorted.

The CG-5 does not implement the favor meridian function. It's in the V4.15 and higher firmware but the CG-5 and CGE don't use it. If you go back and check I believe it will show disabled.

The HC firmware knows which mount it's talking to from the motor controllers. The Meridian function is functional for the CGEM and CGEPro mounts.
