Couldn't find an introduction forum, so hope this will do.
I have had a lifelong interest in astronomy, but with work and family commitments only got around to doing something about it in the last 10 years. Since 2008 I have been doing Astro imaging, planetary for 1 year, then DS imaging with a Canon 450D. then last year I bought myself an Atik 383L Mono and a QHY8L OSC. Not had a huge amount of practice on the CCD cameras yet yet due to dreadful weather for months, plus I live in a Bortle 8 location in the suburbs of London, so need to get to Star parties to get some of the faint stuff. I was draw to this website as I have a SkyPod and at certain times of the year I get very frustrated with the dome getting in the way of high objects. Found a thread on here I would like to pursue. I belong to a few Astro forums including some international ones, it's always good to share info with people from all around the world. Maybe I have already chatted to some of you.
This is my website: https://sites.google...leastroimaging/

Welcome to CN, Carole! We're glad to have you with-

Being a strictly visual observer, i *do* have a couple of friends into "imaging" akin to your pursuits. All i can think to say is "patience"... you must have boatloads of it.

Have you considered the forum dedicated to sainthood? I'm sure we have one in here somewhere...

Thanks for your nice welcomes and comments on my images. I particularly chuckled at the one about having patience of a Saint, and how true this is??

I can't see a way of viewing new posts, or replies to my posts, without having to remember what i posted and trawling through the forums, am I missing something?

Oh and hi Carol again, spoken to you before on SGL.

Carole : welcome to cloudy nights.....as for forgetting what posts you comment in, if you click on your user name "carastro" above you avatar then click on show all users posts it will bring up a list of all the posts you have participated in.
I suspect however you will remember typically.

Hi Carole-

Maybe this is a computer or website "setting"?- but when i "click" on a thread in forum menu, one that is "green" (and i know i've posted (or even just read) in that thread prior, then i know someone (or ones ) has posted after me), then my browser automatically pops me into the thread at the place i left off posting (or reading), immediately following the ones i've last read.

Don't click on "all" listed below the thread title, or a specific page number- just on the thread in general for this to work.

I hope this works for your computer as well as it does for mine!

Welcome Carole! I hope you find, as I have, that CN is a very friendly and helpful community with tons of knowledge of All Things Astronomy

Also when you post you can mark a thread as "Add this thread to my favorites" and you'll get emails with each new post to the thread.

Still struggling to find my way around. I am having difficulty in finding my name above my avatar unless I go into an actual post I have made. Surely there must be an easier way.

A very warm welcome to you I know you'll find the nice folks here a very comfortable fit especially if you remember at least at first don't feed the neighbors because they will tend to follow you home. :D I'm really pleased to have someone with your experience as a CN'er.

Carole,
Welcome! I joined Cloudy Nights about four and a half years ago. There are numerous forums, and people from beginners to experienced old timers. I enjoy the give and take. The eyepiece forum seems to get the most heated. Most of the rest are fairly mild.
