Welcome to CN and to this Nexstar forum ! It's always good to greet new members !
In answer to your question, it's your choice. It certainly won't do any harm to leave the OTA in place on the mount but if you have any fears regarding its safety, then remove it, if you think necessary, for your greater peace of mind.

I always stored my scope fully assembled. Prior to getting my observatory, I had only to carry it a few yards to my shed which I considered less hazardous than removing the O.T.A each time. If you have far to move it, then its a six and two three's as to which is best.

Like many others, I leave mine fully assembled on the tripod. I can pick the whole thing up and carry it (carefully!!) outside, which makes it a lot more convenient and quick to get going. Plus ... my wife says it makes a nice conversation piece sitting in the corner of the living room!
Also, like Arctic Eddie says, I think it's a bit safer. When I used to assemble it every time, I once forgot to screw in the 3 screws from the tripod to the mount. *Almost* had a disaster! Luckily I bumped it lightly and noticed it was loose before anything serious happened.

I think it's more that she and I share an interest in the "engineering and science" side of life. She works as a materials engineer so she appreciates technology.

Wow Dan,your wife must enjoy astronomy also. I would love to be able to have my scope in the living room.I might spend more time in there, with her,if it were. LOL! There is nothing in the main part of the house that belongs to me. A female decorating thing I guess, Sorry to all the gals here.
Not this gal... I would luv to have a house so full of scopes that one would be decorated as the Christmas tree
