Ivano,

Looks real good in that Clark scope. Fine sketching.

Ivano,
Beautiful work. Do you free hand draw Saturn? Saturn has been really looking nice. I could see some banding last night even low with my 8 inch.

You really have captured the target. It must have looked beautiful pushing the magnification. The more I look at your sketch the more detail I am seeing.

Did you use any filters? I tried a 25 red and saw a bit more detail toward the pole.

Hope to see more of your drawings.

Ken

No, of course I use templates. This is the BAA one, with black background and Cassini and C ring already outlined. Others I like to use have a white background.

Did you use any filters? I tried a 25 red and saw a bit more detail toward the pole.

I tried a 23A and a 80A, but I usually find they are not worth much on Saturn 'cause the planet is not that bright. I think a yellow/red filter could be of use in bad seeing.

Thank for your appreciation, but I will have little chance of sketching more, at least until August. Sigh.

Ivano,
Thanks for the tip on the Template. I tried freehand last night and what a mess I had. Like a bad looking fried egg. I won't be posting that one!

I noticed my red filter did dim Saturn quite a bit but added a bit of darkening on the outer most ring and the pole. Of course everything else was washed out.

Sorry to hear you won't be sketching. I enjoyed looking at your drawing and some of your knowledgeable posts.

Ken
