Hi All,

I have emailed both Spectrum (who had done great work for me in the past) and Majestic about coating my mirror and neither responded to my request.

Business must be good to not respond to potential customers.

Can anyone recommend another place to get my mirror coated?

I know there is OWL but, a respected member of our community has advised me to avoid OWL.

Thanks for your time and inputs...

When I asked Carl Zambuto he recommended OMI (james Mulherin). He is doing my ZOC 16 now.

Call Spectrum. I had that same problem and when I called him he checked his system right there and said he never got mail from me.
I had that same issue with another miooro coater as well so its not just Spectrum. He's a good guy and will be glad for your business :)

Thanks all, I will give paul at Spectrum a call.

Joe, the OMI link did not work. However when I googled OMI and found their website, I got the same website not available message. So I assume it is a website problem...

I always call Majestic (Jeff Decker). They always answer and give an immediate price quote over the telephone. I had two mirrors coated last month. Turnaround time was one week.

Try Clausing; they have provided me with excellent service since I made my first mirror in 1964. Here is their website:

And, here are some other opinions:

+1 for OMI. They are a great company and James Mulherin is an A+ straight-up guy. And, I know their email works.

Interesting how things change. He recommended for Spectrum for my first mirror and Nova for my second.

I think Nova's equipment is down right now. Steve Did my Zambuto and the coating is good, but he may be temporarily out of commission.

I think your information is several months old.

I just had a 12.5" coated by Nova, and the mirror owner just received it.

On the topic of the OP, remember, some people just don't do email, and prefer the phone. I also emailed Majestic and did not hear back, but a phone call got right through.

Also, spam filters catch a lot of legitimate emails, so don't automatically assume that a vendor is ignoring you if you don't hear back.

My response time can be several days if I'm traveling, that's just how it is when you're a one-man shop.

Call Majestic, great guy.... Jeffs done alot for me over the years.....

Spectrum has done a few as well, and can do some more exotic coatings, but for a vanilla job, Jeff at Majestic is hard to beat....

For whatever reason, when things slow down vendors most dont seem to be as responsive....(unless its Mike Lockwooed).....

When sending a mirror to be coated make sure it is clean .no CO in the sides . James is the best I have used. I had a 20 inch mirror come back and the center was a blue color it did not last . One big mirror was shipped very badly and could have easy been damaged. My last coating after only a month has some flaking off . I have had no problems with James at OMI . And he can test it on his big flat .

Another option.
Zambuto Optical is working on providing coating services onsite at their shop. Last I heard it is a few months from being up and running, per all going well.
