hi there,

although the actual tripods seem to be a bit more stable than the older models, i think my nexstar 11 i once owned did a bit more accurate alignment than my new cpc 9.25 now.

i must admit that i was too lazy and not keen on using that heavy okular tray with my cpc tripod until now because it is just easier to handle all the stuff without that bulky tray.

what is your suggestion? is tensing up tripod and tray essential and would improve alignment noticeable?

thank you!

Holger

I'd suspect alignment and tracking accuracy would improve. Any amount of movement from the tripod should be avoided. I've never used mine without it but I gotta assume there's some flexure that a snug eyepiece tray removes.
