That's pretty shady! I've read a lot of posts from people who payed for an item on their website and had to dispute it with their CC company. I had always assumed they prepaid their hosting and that's why the site is still up.

If they are still around and doing business in any venue, then they should take the Scope City site down. I had always given them the benefit of the doubt assuming they are incapacitated, out of the country, without internet.

The last time I checked the shopping cart function on their web site was disabled, so they are not taking orders on line or your money.

I placed an order in Jan and payment was accepted, but never recived a confirmation from ScopeCity. I filed a claim with PayPal and received my refund in late Feb.

You should read this thread:

Accepting payments does not mean the lights are on in the shop!

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying they are open, I am saying they are negligent at best for leaving the website open and accepting payments.

Lumicon is back up and in business, Scope City is still willing to take your money.....comes with a lifetime wait guarantee......closed their doors and left up the website and walked away.

Extreme south bay -- keep driving south for a few hours and you will end up in Simi Valley ;) My understanding is he is director of operations for Lumicon.

Jerry was having problems with the store being off the beaten track in an upstairs unit, however he got some really nice used stuff in,he told me the sales side of things were suffering to on line stores, last I heard he was looking for work, a good guy, I liked him,as said in a earlier post KW are a lot longer away from me than the original store,DA.

Yes, it's sad to see all these guys go. Jerry was great, and I loved the store. Luckily Brian and Brady at KW are in the same category. A bit of a longer drive from the GTA, but well worth it for that level of quality customer service.

Best,
Ed L.

As far as ordering blind from a website....I never do.

I always call to check availability of item as you can't depend on things being in stock. I've noticed that even Astronomics (my favorite) seems to have a lot less inventory on hand these days...hopefully not a future issue.

Checking stock availability is particularly important if using PayPal....works like a debit card and your acct is immediately charged instead of when shipped using a CC.
