I got my Z10 dob today. :jump: However, as I was playing with the 5 or 6 screws on the focuser tube, I apparently screwed in one side on the 1.25" adapter too hard. Now the compression ring is slightly bent and won't allow 1.25" eyepieces and my laser collimator inside without scratching it to hell. Newb mistake... I know. :(

Has anyone had this happen to them and found a simple fix for it? Sunset is quickly approaching and I haven't even checked collimation, let alone set it out to cool down. :(

Pull the ring out, wrap it around something that is a little bigger than 1.25", then cinch it down with a hose clamp. That should take out the flat spot.

Thanks Charles, i'll do that. I just took out my 1.25" adapter from my refractor so at least I can check collimation and use it tonight. :D

I've done it. Just remove it and bend it back, it's just brass. I used a small diameter roller to reform it.
