Aha. I guess it was just a matter of time, as many here have speculated. Now I wonder if the improvement in quality and product range will be as great for Meade as it was for Celestron, after the Synta takeover.

Well JOC made the excellent Meade 5000 SWAs and UWAs... and they part own Explore Scientific too right?

Don used to emphasize how Meade and JOC had a terrible falling out and how none of the current Meade optics were made by JOC... anyways JOC makes good glass and if even if Meade and Explore Scientific's lines converge somewhat I don't we'll be losing anything. Heck, they should put Scott at the top of Meade ;)

EDIT: They DID put Scott at the top of Meade. It's in the link. Good! Mr. Roberts, please make a line of nice Abbe Orthos, about $200 each.

 I hadn't noticed that the first time I read the news. Given the success of Explore Scientific, I think that may change a few things at Meade. Celestron/Synta should probably take notice.

Well that's a great move and Scott will do well, he might have to move back to CA!
