I have recently become highly interested in sketching, particularly Our Moon. This began with exploration of on-line old maps and atlases. Maps of the moon way back in the 18th, 19th, and 20th century are simply awesome to explore!!!!

Although I probably wont be directly involved in sketching as a hobby, am very interested to read and learn more. This brings me to one objective of making an introductory presentation on both history of moon maps and the current world of sketching the moon.

1 So, am looking for recommended publications about sketching the moon.

2 Looking for permission to make some on-line copies of the work being done here for use in the presentation.

Your comments, thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

Hi,

There are a number of people on this group that routinely produce wonderful lunar sketches such as Frank McCabe, as well as others.

I wound suggest that you ask them for suggestions.

Best,

Eric

Hello Opticsguy,

I agree with Eric, Frank would be a person (maybe the person) to ask.
Also,
The book "Astronomical Sketching" has a large section on lunar sketching and is a great resource. It is co authored by several CN contributors.

Ditto on Jim's book recommendation. You will like it. And, Frank always offers wonderful advice. Best thing at the beginning: start sketching.
