I gave up on trying to purchase a suitable mount for my long tube reflector, so I thought, homemade eq mount!my grandpa built a 4.25 inch reflector on a homemade eq mount he made, with a drive! I still don't know how he did that and I really dont know how to make that work. I have a good idea of how to make the mount but no idea on the drive, but if I can't do a drive I won't be crushed. Has anyone built their own mounts before? Any advice on this mount project would be great thanks! :)

Search for "pipe mount" to find out how to build a simple GEM with water pipe fittings. I did this with my first telescope build in the early 1970s. No drive or slo-mo, but worked great.

BUT. Look at the cost of new pipe fittings these days. A used GEM will be a lot cheaper.
