Just pulled the standard Celestron dovetail off my EdgeHD 8" and attempted to swap in an ADM VC8 dovetail so I can get these new Advanced VX legs out of the house...

Problem :: The center screw at the rear of the rail will not tighten down... enough.

Its screwed in - the threads are fine andn the screw matches perfectly. The problem is that the screw seems too long for the rail kit - its bottoming out against the tube.

Do I ::

1. try using washers to give myself some room?
2. drill a new hole in the OTA?
3. wait for professional help? :)

Any ideas are apreciated - I want something solid - last thing I need is this mount coming loose....

You have 2 options, on mine all it took was one washer, but you could go to the hardware store and get a stud put it in finger tight then put a nut on.This would be the more professional thing to do.

Mine has been fine with the washer.

I'm going to try out the stud suggestion - Thanks for the tip!
