This might be of interest in as much that the book exists as a piece of recent scientific literature and that the subject *is* being taken seriously at least in academia

Our Doctor has emphasized a dark place to sleep for over a decade now.

We like to sleep with the windows open at night. So now we have three levels of screens to block the lights at night while allowing for fresh air to enter the house.

We do have a view house that at night "shows-off" the city lights.

We own a off-grid vacation home that is totally dark at night. No outside lights visible anywhere and minor light domes. Our guests always comment on how well they sleep at night.

Quiet and dark does make a difference.
