On the mount:

OTA - C14 Edge
Accessories - ADM 'D' Plate with ADM Max Guider carrying Orion ED80 and 50mm guidescope with SSAG
Celestron 50mm finder
Hyperstar with T3i DSLR

With this load I'm using 4-22lb CW's and then some extra weight strapped on in order to balance nicely.

I guess I should start considering a side by side arrangement as opposed to piggybacking the 80mm refractor but it would be easier just adding counterweight. But I'm not finding anyone else doing this to what seems like a typical type of loading.

And I realize I may be a tad overweight here but it seems to be working fine providing I am balanced correctly.

Any comments?

I have about 70lbs of scope stuff on my pro.

This required a 3" extension to the cw shaft made by PRECISION PARTS and 4 cge pro cweights.

I have a 12.5" planewave with a 101mm refractor on top on a adm max guider...plus a 50mm scope with a sbig sg4 guide camera and an electric focuser.....have a look at the fotos in the show your sct setup forum.

Balance is fine and mount works really well
I woudn't be happy with 5 weights i must say

It's time to call in one of the great CGE torture testers: CN's own Jerry Wise. This young feller wrote the book on torturing the venerable CGE. Jerry...do you have a couple of pictures in your archive?

If I'm 6 to 8lbs shy on counterweight, then how long an extension will I need to compensate?

I would say a 5" extension will do it...probably a 3" would but the 5" to be sure

Howard did your extension get added to the top or bottom of the CW bar?
