While reading the SynScan manual for my shiny new Atlas Pro AZ-EQ, I noticed the Autohoming feature for Orion HDX110.
It seems to suggest Orion is also coming out with their EQ8 version.
Not in the market for a new mount but thought it was interesting as I had not read any mention of it in these forums.

Very cool find! If you search the PDF manual there are several references to a"HDX110 EQ-G. I have been keeping an eye on these new mounts and if they continue to show the performance that the early models offer I may be interested. My Atlas EQ-G is borderline over-capacity with my current imaging setup.

The EQ8 PE curve results starting to come out of Australia are sensational. Very much top-of-the-line mount numbers. It looks like Sky-Watcher's EQ8 (and Orion's version) is going to have a massive impact in the market.

So, any of the Orion versions in American hands, yet?

No! :ohgeeze:

But I'm patiently waiting...and plan to be an early adopter :watching:

They haven't even advertised it yet.

There are some very happy Aussie and Kiwi owners of these mounts, so I suspect you'll be pretty happy with one too.

Look on the bright side: By the time Orion begin selling their version, Synta will have ironed out the last minor kinks in the current (v3.35) HC firmware.

Of course, there's always EQMOD...

I saw it on their site the other day. Had a price set and it looked as if you could order one. Didn't see any back-order or pre-order texts anywhere.

Has anyone purchased one of these yet? I am very excited about it and would like to buy one but I'd really like to see a good review first.

Australia, New Zealand and the UK/Europe have had the EQ8 for quite a while. Check out the IceInSpace and Stargazer's Lounge forums for more info and opinion. there is plenty to choose from.
