Excellent article, with informative photos and very clear insructions.

I really admire the DIY spirit. Sam Brown's book was about this, and your work exemplifies that.

It is far too easy to get into a "spend" mindset with our hobby. In many cases, with some basic math and a little elbow grease, we can achieve spectacular results.

I would like to see more DIY-type articles in the future. Thanks for sharing your story. I think I'm going to try this one out!

Would you consider posting a photo of the finished product?

All the best to your daughter as she goes off to school.

Extremely well composed and formatted “how to” article.

Ron,

What a super DIY article. Very well spelled out, and easy to follow instructions.

You really make it look like even *I* could put one of these together.

Thanks

All, thanks so much for your positive comments. My intent was to get others to do some ATM. Also, sorry for my delay in replying.

Sam Brown's book should be on every ATM's bookshelf. It is dated, but it provides great food for thought.

The finished pics are attached. We spray painted one, and then sanded the top. After which we used the black marker to color a portion of the top. Kind of gives a unique touch. The second is "al naturale".

I took a shot to specifically show the blue tape at the bottom. Gives you an idea what is going on.
