Anyone have this problem with Cartes du Ciel losing the connection with the Celestron scope? Been happening all the time now and never before? The only change I made was a different USB hub at the scope. Could this have made such a difference? I am using a prolific chipset USB-rs232 dongle.

P.S. This is 4 repeater hub USB2.0 chain. So 20m + 2 5m non repeater segments, for total distance of about ~80ft. If my camera dropped out, then I would say its the length of the chained cables... but it does not. Just the CdC connection...

Simple, it's the Prolific dongle.

I've got one and it's OK when it's connected directly to a USB port on the PC and using a short RS232 cable BUT once you use a longer RS232 cable or connect through hubs and repeaters it gets very unreliable.

Try a FTDI adaptor, they seem to be much better.
