Hey Bill, I don't see a pier column going into your building. Is it hidden or not installed yet?

Nice looking obs, BTW.

Thank you for the compliment and your are right -- No pier: stability is achieved through the six underground pillars each 2 ft. wide and 4 to 5 ft. deep (over a ton of concrete). The floor is rock solid and I experience less than a half second shake after focusing. This affords me the ability to move scopes and mounts around as the need dictates.
Clear skies and of course, "Keep looking up."

Nice job, Bill

Clear Skies!

Thank you Bill, your suggestions comments have been very helpful. Of course we have experienced absolutely no clear skies since my observatory has become operational, which just proves the old adage about the acquisition of new equipment causing cloud magnetism in and around your viewing area. However this too will pass in time.
Clear skies and of course, "Keep looking up."

Bill, it's beautiful. Hope you get some good use from it.

At least your lawn is going to appreciate all the water it's gonna gain from your purchase ;).

A few photographs of the completed structure, I still have a bit more painting to do but 90º temperatures and above 80% humidity dictate that I wait till Fall to finish with that.
I want to thank every one of you for your input during this most rewarding project.
Clear skies to all and of course, “Keep looking up!”

How's that floor working with the tripods?

Hello Chris,
I have an ED80 mounted on the Sirius EQ-G atop a tripod, which is controlled by EQMOD on a PC. All seems to be working well; of course I am not doing any deep sky imaging. My time at the scope is currently spent doing visual observing. I do plan on implementing video capture in the very neat future.
I have also built a triangular base, which raises my XT10 Dob about a foot above the floor. It is filled with 80 pounds concrete, which adds greatly to its stability (photo attached). By the way the photographs you published on your website are outstanding.
Clear skies and of course, “Keep looking up.”
