Whooo Hooo!
Had the pleasure to camp and observe there last fall. Awesome facilities, organization and all-night food.
Count me in again!

Sweeet!!!
Can't wait too. I had a great time last Fall every day and night was clear skies. What a gift. The food was good also. This Fall I'm taking my wife with me. I believe she wants to see what all my talk was about.

Registration is in. Last fall was really good. By the way, the green observing tent in your photo background is mine.

Regards,

Sent mine in yesterday as well. Can't wait, counting down the days. Were hoping to have 7 or 8 from Greenville,South
coming. That counting a couple of wifes too.

We're looking forward to having everyone come and enjoy the astronomical fellowship and the observing. We have four speakers lined up for Saturday, October 5th. We'll have their information on the star party website.

We're just two months away. :jump: :jump: :jump:

We had an observing session at Staunton River last night, Friday, August 9th. I'm pleased to report that even with all of the rain that we have had, the field is awesome shape. The only way to explain it is that the lush green grass has sucked it all up.

Even though the clouds were plentiful, we did have some openings through which the Milky Way shined through. Just enough to entice one appetite.

October is getting closer! :jump: :jump: :jump:

I'm seriously thinking about attending for the first time this year. I used to attend MASP in Robbins, NC regularly, but now that that's gone, it sounds like SRSP is the place to be. Since I have to work all week, Friday afternoon would be the earliest that I could make it.

Does anyone know from past experience whether arriving on Friday would be too late to guarantee that I'd be able to find a prime observing spot where I could also park my SUV and pitch my tent?

Unless they have 2-3 times the attendance of last year, you should have plenty of places to park. It is a huge field.

Hi Scott,

Sorry for the delay. As Charlie said, there should be plenty of space for you on the field. If you arrive before dark, we'll get you on the field.

We're looking forward to seeing you at the party.

Drive carefully and we'll see you there.

Does anybody know if there is going to be electricity on the west end of the Observing field this year?

I am pretty sure there will NOT be any power at the far end of the field. It is a question that I ask often just to find out where we stand. The park is currently short staffed. The ranger working on that project has been in class all summer. So I'm not sure what progress has been made. At this time I'll say, don't count on it.

We'll get it out there. Please be patient.

Well I guess I stand completely corrected. I talked with Stephanie at the park today. I said," OK, I need to ask this question, where does the power stand in the field?"

Stephanie said that they were in the process of running power further down the field.

So there will be power further down the field as you have requested.

Don't forget that September 20th is the closing date for registration.

Very cool about the power. I just told my wife, and she's very excited to hear that! We were wondering how we were going to blow up the air mattress for our tent. :)

Hey everyone, just a few days left to register. Friday is the last day so tell your fellow observers to hurry. The Park staff is very excited about our return and they are working feverishly preparing. We're looking forward to seeing very one as well.
