Thanks for the heads-up about the swap meet! I've got a few things that I really should sell but have just been too lazy to list for sale on AM or CN.

I just want to remind everyone to bring their dew protection. We are in that time of year when the dew comes quick and heavy.

Hi Jayme, just wanted to thank you, the rest of the CHAOS crew, and the Staunton River State Park staff for all your hospitality and all the effort that you put into organizing this. The Staunton River Star Party is the absolute best star party that my wife, son, and I have ever had the pleasure of attending. :) I can't wait for next year!

Thank you for the kind words Scott. The fact that your family and you had a good time means that we have achieved our goal. We, CHAOS and Staunton River Park Staff, are looking forward to the next event which will be March 27 to the 30th 2014. Short but sweet.

We thank you and all that attended the star party. It's hard to believe that it went by so fast and the skies so clear.

We'll see you soon.

Jayme

Thanks for sharing all the pics, Ray! I got so absorbed in observing and sharing views with my immediate neighbors that I totally forgot to roam the field and check out what else was out there. :foreheadslap:

A friend and I were only able to make it for friday and saturday night, but it was one of the best star parties we've been to. Saturday night looked like a wash until the clouds broke around 8pm and the transparency ended up being even better than friday night.

I decided to go after DSOs in other galaxies and managed to observe 4 globulars in the Andromeda Galaxy (mag 14.2 to 15.4), a glob in M110, as well as 7 globs or nebula in M33.

Observing in the mid 60's at 4am in October was nuts.

Yes. My readings on Tuesday and Wednesday were consistent. 21.2 at the end of astronomical twilight, reaching 21.4 at around 11pm.

You can see the data for the location on a map at http://www.knightwar...qm2/sqm_map.php

Once again I want to thank everyone for coming to our star party. We were truly blessed with great nights of observing.

We just want to give everyone a heads up for next year's, 2014, dates.

March 27-30 for the spring party. :jump: :refractor:

October 20-26 for the fall party. :jump: :dob:

Have a great & safe Holiday Season. :lock:

Just wanted to say that Staunton River was a great star party. The facility was great and the sky is dark. What else can you ask for in a star party? Oh yeah, good weather! Boy did we have great weather! High temp of almost 90 on Saturday and perfectly clear skies Friday and Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed SRSP and will definitely be coming back in either the spring or fall of 2014.

UNC-TV was at the star party to do a story about the event. The story is located at:
