I found an old pair of 7x35 S&A binos that are labeled Sport King, model 704 (exactly like a Swift Sport King). They look older than a MKI or II Sport King and have a slightly smaller FOV (498 ft vs 500+), but they look very similar to the newer ones. Are these an early French-made Swift? If so, are they as good optically as the newer Japanese Swifts (taking into account the newer coatings on those later models) Any info would be great

They appear to have BK-7 prisms, based on the appearance of the blue-grey chordal dimming in the classic 'diamond' pattern.

Do they have a J code stamped on them anywhere?

I've been trying to get the seller to answer that very question, but he is very slow to respond. They look so similar to a Swift Sport King, the model number is the same and the S&A logo has the Swift crosshairs on it. I'm relatively new to binocular collecting and the info I can muster indicates that Swift may have imported products under the S&a (Swift and Anderson) brand name in the late 50s-early 60s. I was just trying to confirm that and get an idea if the optical quality was similar to Swift before I offer to buy these.
