To focus the finder view, I screw the eyepiece holder in or out, correct? Once I get the finder focused, and go on to bigger and better things, with the main 'scope, should I leave the eyepiece holder adjusted where it is?

Yes, twist the eyepiece holder (diopter) to focus in the finder. Yes, I also leave it alone when in telescope mode.

check to be sure you don't have the earlier Japanese eyepieces. Excellent ones I might add. with those earlier models the barrel of the eyepiece itself rotates similar to a binocular adjustment. You can retrofit these with the moving diopter model for a modest fee to the Mother Ship in New Hope. I agree that once adjusted for the eyepiece your good to go. Post a picture of your scope and we can confirm.
