Howdy gang,

I have been sitting on this a while and finally got it scanned to my satisfaction. This was my first attempt at using a Moleskin sketch book (I think it was Uwe that uses a Moleskin book and this is where I got the inspiration from). I decided I enjoy sketching on the Moleskin much better. Better feel to it.

Anyway, here is M42 from March 8th 2013 using my 12.5" dob and a 12mm University Optics Ortho.

Lovely sketch, Jason.

Moleskine books are nice, I have a pile of them here at home and will get round to using them eventually, once my current observing notebook is used up.

Actually this was made by Jeremy Perez. He is one of my sketching heroes (along with you all here on the forum!!!)

Thanks for the comments guys. And I must learn to spell Moleskine properly :D

Jason,

Nicely done--I like the variations in the nebulosity. Some of us are afraid to tackle M42--glad you weren't. :)

You took your time, but it was certainly worth the wait. Very well done, Jason!

nice, this sketch by pencil~
when you draw the dark side, please try use your finger to smear the brushwork, then it looks better :)

I don't think I agree. The different tones of the nebulosity look good to me. Blending can be overdone sometimes.
