I built a small split-roof obs several years ago on a concrete slab in the back yard.I was mostly observing plus some video imaging at times with my Nexstar 8i . The scope was mounted on top of a wheeled cart containing the moniter and recorder. However since the obs was only 7X8' it left no room for setting up my Super polaris mount. My solution was a steel pier with a ply top which accepts the Nexstar 8...the N8 can be lifted off and a self leveling cage attached which contains the SP base attached with 3/8" bolts thru blind nuts on the main base. The pics should make the construction easier to understand. the pier was filled with 50 lbs of sand and is rock steady.

Laz,
Clever idea. I like it. What scope do you use to mount on the SP?
