I tried observing the sun yesterday and today. Don't worry, I have all of the right filters. Anyway, someone suggested that I enter a Custom tracking rate of -35 to track the Sun. I did that but it made no difference. Do I have to get an alignment first and then change the tracking rate? Thanks.

For unpatched firmware try -3 , -35 is for firmware that has been patched

Check out the yahoo Lxd55 group for more info

The normal sidereal rate is more than adequate.

One thing when using Meade LXD-55/75 mounts during the day, stray sunlight can confuse the optical encoders on the axes motors.

Some temporary tape along the gaps between the plastic motor housings and the mount can solve this.
