For me, I find the red dot finder more practical for initial alignment. I have the Baader Sky Surfer V mounted on my CPC.

Just to keep in training, i love to search Objects some times with star-hopping, without using the goto function.
For that i use the RACI 9x50 finder.
Also telrads and red dots are uncomfortable to look through near zenit...

I hear you. I sometimes use my 60mm Stellavue RA finder on my CPC for that purpose, mounted next to the red dot finder. But I always use the red dot finder to point the scope for initial alignment. :)

Hi Gastrol,
I'm thinking about getting the red dot finder just for the aligning procedure, i think it will make aligning faster and aligning stars are not in zenit, so it won't hurt my neck. Do you use the celestron red dot finder and are you happy with it?

The red dot finder works well, but I find the Telrad a bit easier to use.

I had a telrad on my Zeiss APQ 130, but on the CPC i'd like something smaller. I think i go for the Celestron red dot, it's small and not expensive ;-)

the RACI finder arrived yesterday. Well made!
What i like most, is that it fits on the mount of the original 9x50 finder, so i can have the original finder permanently equipped with a solar filter for daytime use.
