"Pauper and Prince: Ritchey, Hale and Big American Telescopes" by Donald Osterbrock was frequently referenced in the wonderful biography of E.E. Barnard, "The Immortal Fire Within". Has anyone read this book and can share an opinion?

Hi Shirley!

I have not read the book, however, I googled and found

three customer reviews at Amazon.

Sounds interesting.

I read this book last year, its one of my favorites. This book is superbly well written, and Osterbrock has the knowledge to put all the facts into perspective, all the while spinning a great tale. You'll see Ritchey really had a tough ride with Hale.
