I'm getting to know my new-to-me 2006 LX90 8". I've had it for a couple of months now and am generally comfortable with its use. My basic question has to do with the EQ wedge that came with the purchase. For my own curiosity and education I installed the wedge and mounted the telescope on it. I've read some how-to's on SCT/wedge polar alignment and I'm reasonably sure I know how to do it, at least roughly. OK, here's the question: what is the 'park' position of the OTA when it's on a wedge? In other words, where should the OTA be pointed when I turn on Autostar? Without the wedge I'd just level it, point it north, turn on Autostar and off I'd go. With the wedge I'm not so sure. Do I start with the OTA aimed at Polaris, or...???

Thanks,

Richard

assuming you have it properly polar aligned and are in the LX90's "polar mode" with the the right date, time, and location entered you just have to point it at any one star (e.g. Arcturus), sync it on that one star, and you are off and running!
