I joined the society a couple weeks ago online and I never received anything in my e-mail or snail mail. I e-mailed the info@texasastro.org link on Friday and likewise haven't received a response. I'm not sure what I was expecting to receive per se but maybe a welcome letter and instructions for how to get on the forum/access their dark sky site.

try again and / or send an email to the membership coordinator (see the website or newsletter for the name).

you can download the new member packet from the web site
http://www.texasastro.org
but someone really should send you a welcome or acknowledgement. plus you need the gate combination for the darksite. when i joined last year i had to send a couple followups. i was told they never received notification of a paypal pmt. they will reply - just a little slow sometimes. don't forget about the picnic on sept 7 at the darksite. your chance to meet about a hundred people and scopes.

since you sent the email on friday no one may have seen it until monday. you will probably hear something this week but definitely send a followup email.

Actually we have a nice dark site near Atoka, Ok. http://cleardarksky....AtokaOKkey.html

So move to the north side of DFW. North side, best side :)

People also go out to Comanche Springs (3RF)

A little further but darker.

Cheers!
