I bought a 2030 Reticle for my Losmandy polar scope. I am having trouble figuring out how to replace it. The reticle came without instructions and I can not find anything on the Losmandy website.

I have taken the polar scope apart, and it appears that I need to undo 3 small hex screws. After that, the reticle either falls out, or a plactic ring has to be unscrewed and then I assume the reticle comes out.

Can anyone help with the proper instructions. Also, what is the correct size of the hex screws? The head has to be smaller than 1.5mm.

Thanks

I finally found a 2011 thread in the equipment forum regarding this. My only remaining question is the size of the hex head for the reticle adjustment. I'll try calling Losmandy and hope they know.

Hi Bob, I replaced my reticle last year and the hex screw size is .035". If your hardware store doesn't have it, you can get one from McMaster-Carr for .24cts (but shipping will obliviously increase the price).
Keep in mind that the reticle is VERY fragile and can easily be chipped/broken, so go slow and use very little pressure. You may need to recalibrate the polar scope once done, so if so loosen before you tighten!
