At least a month. Probably a bit more.

The compass function on my new SS4+ seems quite a bit smoother than the SS3+ version. I wonder if it's gotten good enough for manually aiming a shortish FL scope using one of those phone or tablet brackets?

Has anyone tried this yet?

Thanks,
David

Thanks...

I am looking forward to the new Android version but I am more than happy with the current version, waiting a month.. no biggie.

Waiting a month when there was no Android version, now that was different, nerve racking, stressful to say the least. I had sneak around and frequent dark corners so no one could see that I had a iPhone 3G just so I could use Sky Safari.

Such temptation, what a guy will do when the pressure's on.

:)

Jon

Jon: +1 on the Android version - I am also patiently waiting for the new release (and I am still very happy with the 1.8.5 release).

It really did suck before the Android version of Sky Safari first came out (when my old Windows Mobile PDA died and I couldn't use Astromist any more).

Yep. We'll start working on it right after the Android version is released.

Can someone confirm which flip view corresponds to a refractor with a diagonal....none, hor, vertical or both? Which for dobsonian? Thx in advance.

For dobsonian it's both. Don't know the refractor with diagonal.

You want Flip Horizontal for a refractor with diagonal.

Isn't the view in a dob simply upside down? I.e., just vertical and NOT both?

No, it is rotated 180ยบ which makes it both upside down and reversed right/left.

Downloaded SS4 yesterday and I have to say, so far I am very pleased. Thanks for the introductory price.
I have already added all of my scopes and some eyepieces into the database.

David,

Why would you wonder if this was 4.0 when it is called 3.8.2? As we've said, SS 4 is not due out until around the end of the year. 3.8.2 is compatible with iOS 4 through 7. SkySafari 4 will be iOS 7 only.

Bill

Bill,
I am confused, did you change the name after you made this comment?

When I said SkySafari 4 would be iOS 7 only, I was speaking in the context of iOS. I just meant it would not run on earlier versions of iOS. We had always planned to release it on Android and Mac (in progress).

Will the new Mac version include a correction for the problems with the SiTech Servo driver? thanks. Ron

Don't know yet. It is hard to fix it since we don't have a SiTech that has the problem. I will try to make sure it is worked on though.

Does that mean you have a SiTech that doesn't have the problem? Per my previous p-mail, depending on how long it takes and timing, I'm willing to loan you mine or test a beta fix. Ron
