On holiday in France I made some fine naked eye sketches. I already posted a naked eye sketch of the Milky Way (with Nova Del as bonus). Here are the pastel sketches.

Some 10 km from my French holiday house there was local astroclub who organised a public star party. First there was a reunion with two lectures (I did one about astrosketching). Some 50 people showed up! If you know that the little village has only 1 000 residents, I find this rather impressive. Here is an impression of the star party.

The 9th August I wanted to capture the conjunction between Venus and the Moon with a donjon from the 12th century. I made a sketch of the sunset as preparation for the big show. The first clouds showed already up (see at right), became bigger and darker... so I missed the conjunction completely. Happy I made this one!

Two days later I had my revenge to capture Venus and the Moon. The two celestial bodies were digitally enhanced.

Totally agree! Lovely drawings! They really radiate the worriless and tranquil atmosphere of your holiday. I hope the photographers at the star party weren't too angry about the green laser though...

Thanks all for the nice words! The starparty sketch was inspired by the beautiful sketches of Aquarellia. He sometimes put observing people on the foreground.

Its the first time I see a laser on a sketch

Not really difficult to sketch ;)
