I've seen some mentions in other threads but can't find a good answer. I need a counterweight to fit the AVX mount and need one lighter than the stock 11 lb. weight. 5 or 6 lbs. would be great for my rig.

Anything out there that will fit? Thanks.

I can be cheap from time to time, and have used SS "drops" found on Ebay. Most of these drops are sold by Machine shops.

So what I'll do is link to an interesting specimen, contact the seller, and ask how much it would cost to have a smooth bore and one 1/4 20 threaded hole done, plus shipping. Bear in mind a "drop" may have sharp and/or non square cuts which you can dress, or smoothen, at home with a file.

However, the Mike Stand weight linked above is a darn good deal.

I just received the 7.5 pound weight, it works well on my AVX.
