So here is my first attempt to acquire a vintage scope.
I hope it qualifies as such.

This is 80mm Cometron table top.
There is a little history to go with it.
This particular scope belonged to Fred Haddock a well known professor of astronomy at the University of Michigan. He designed the radio telescope at Peach Mountain for the university. When he passed his widow gave it to a friend school teacher whom I recently acquired it from. Not sure what the value of this scope would be and I am interested if anybody wants to msg me with an estimate. The mirrors are both next to perfect. The only issue is that for some reason one of the legs developed a rust problem. Other than that, everything is pretty much pristine. It has this interesting righting mirror that came with it.

Picture of lenses and other items that came with the scope. All stock items I suppose.

Just a slight quick emergency note: DON'T USE THAT SUN FILTER, NEVER LOOK AT THE SUN WITH IT!

Those old fashioned sun filters have blinded many an observer. You can keep the filter for it's nostalgic part of the set but make sure NO ONE can ever accidently use it.

Now then, congratulations. Yes, it is a classic. Nice to know it is in such good condition.

Thanks for the warning about the filter. I think I will use it and become part owner of Celestron.

Hmmm, a little late for that. How's your Mandarin?
