The Eagle is too small for the 8" base mounts... it would be awesome if AP would make a bigger Eagle type tripod though!

Gents, did you order this with the absolute encoders? I passed for now. If I get more into imaging maybe I can add them down the road.

I passed on the AEs due to their high cost. I also switched my order since initiating this thread.

I recently began an observatory so the portability issue sort of "went away."

I had AP ship me a 1600. It arrived a few hours ago, setting some kind of record for shipping expediency. From upstate IL to rural NS, including customs clearance in Montreal, all in about 45 hours. Good job, FedEX!!! :woohoo:

No need for you guys to get all effusive in your gratitude for effectively bumping you up the list for the 1100 by changing my order. :) :)

We all know I had dibs on the first AP1100 to ship. :step:

Not me since my setup is always portable. Absolute encoders are probably best for permanent setup.

Also, it's very pricey. :scared:

I got my first notice for my AP1100 today, to be shipped in February! So excited! Guess I'll need to order it now... :grin: :jump:

I put my name on the list in early October...
