Just finished a completely graphite sketch of Langrenus. Wonderful shadows and details. Used my 8" Dob with a 6mm plossl. It was truly a lovely sight with some moments of good seeing. Hands were feeling quite stiff and numb even with gloves with the tips cut off. Endymion was very well placed but I stuck with Langrenus. Hot chocolate will help!
Regards,
Randolph :)

Beautiful, Randolph! I especially love the way you've captured the subtle rays to the left of the crater!

Thank you so much Jason. I suspect sketching will soon be " in winter hibernation " as the nights grow colder :bawling:
I can wear several layers and feel fine but just can't seem to deal with frozen fingers.
Regards and clear skies,
Randolph

 I can relate completely. I'm about 90 miles the way of the crow northeast of you. As long as there's no wind I can sketch down to 20ºF. If there are winds...fuggetaboutit.

Now tell me how you know "fuggetaboutit".... :jump:
Yes, it's the wind that's the "deal breaker" and last night...just so :coldday:

Randolph,

Fantastic sketch of crater Langrenus. All the great details are there in superb relief.

Thank you Frank. Still think I prefer the black sketch paper/pastels technique for lunar sketching. What a breathtaking vista ( as you well know ) during moments of good seeing.

Oh yes Uwe, the hot chocolate did indeed take some of the chill away. Also topped it with a layer of warm, heavy cream.
Very good stuff.
