This graphite sketch was done the evening of 11/20. High clouds but good seeing and temperatures around freezing. Omni 120 refractor, 6mm Plossl. I was not going to post this one but given the oncoming winter, it may be one of the last for a while. :coldday:

If this is your last for a while, you certainly have given us a gift. Amazing as always, Randolph, and possibly your best yet, if I may. Returning to your former passion has taken you virtually no time to find your groove. I am taking notes on your drawings, as it makes for some terrific example work. :waytogo:

Here's hoping we have plenty of warm nights this winter so we can continue to enjoy these sketches. :)

Thank you Jason...there are some aspects of this sketch that I am not happy with, but it's probably worthwhile to post so we ( I ) can see how our work changes over time. One of the problems I have with colder weather is that my eyes water profusely. Eyepieces get wet, hands get wet...(fuhgetaboudit). I'm an optometrist and I know there is probably nothing I can do about this.
Regards,
Randolph

Beautiful sketch Randolph. I know what you mean. I also have problems with my eyes during winter... at the eyepiece everything becomes blurred at some point. It is sad that we might not see more of your great work for some months.

Regards

Jean

Thank you Jean. Your climate is even colder, but I have found that the eye watering is the same whether the temperature is just at freezing or very much below freezing. I suppose I wouldn't do well on Europa.
