Gastropod fossil in Steinheim shattercone

I recently received a small lot of Steinheim crater shattercones and was perplexed by the neatly rounded border on the side of one of the specimens. Flipping the piece over, I was delighted to find a gastropod fossil in the specimen.

Nice find! I also bought a lot of those several years ago, but didn't find anything extra like that. :)

I have seen impact-shocked fossils from the same locality, but they are usually singular specimens with no associated matrix.

Your piece is definitely a keeper. :waytogo:
