Hello,

Observed Moon with 10x50 binoculars. Time: December 13, ~18h30min UT. Watched Gassendi crater and saw bright spot detached from the Moon but near it and southeast from Gassendi. Could have it been part of Mersenius* crater or something else?

There are a number of features going SE from Gassendi including craters Gassendi Y, R, J, and O, Rupes Kelvin, and the Kelvin Promontorius. Can you estimate how many Gassendi diameters the spot was from the edge of Gassendi? That would help pin it down.

I don't remember exactly, but it wasn't very close. Maybe ~3-4 diameters away.
