Greetings all,

Attached is a drawing of Jupiter made last night. I had hoped to complete a strip map; alas the wind really picked up and seeing conditions varied! In the end I settled for a disk drawing to break up the weeks of no observations! There wasn't a vast amount of fine detail on the disk but a few interesting points include the following:
-A bright elongated oval shaped region in the STB.
-Some interesting features in the NEB although it was not possible to capture it all.
-Perhaps the most interesting feature was a darker NNTB which seemed to curve southwards and join the NTB. The region proc. this belt was somewhat dark and grey while the region immediately fol. it was notable brighter.

Given the weather forecast over the next few days, and indeed the dire weather we have experienced today, I am unlikely to make another observation before Christmas, so I wish you all a happy Christmas and clear skies for 2014.

Best wishes,
-Paul

Paul, nice Job on the grouping of ovals, especially in the average seeing. Oval BA, one preceding it, and the trio of them further on. That looks very familiar. :)

Paul,
Nice work. You made good use of your poor conditions. The weather has not been our friend, I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Paul, superb sketch for such seeing. Heck, that's a good sketch for any seeing. Interesting details in the SEB with the apparent separation of layers and colors. Great work.

Oh, Paul, that's a real beauty! I like the strong colours because they make the details stand out even more. Very goof job!

Paul,

Excellent sketch of Jupiter with it's ovals. That is an interesting NNTB with the curve. I'll be looking for that next time I view this area.
