We had moderate wind yesterday evening and I thought the seeing were terribe. But tehere were stable moments in between so I could make a decent sketch. Not all of the details seen in these moments could be transfered to the sketch.

Instrument was my 32 cm Newtonian at 261x.

Uwe,
It looks like you got a lot of detail. I see the same bulges on the SEB. I also notice the darkening spot before the GRS. Looks like you also captured some nice turbulence off the GRS as well.

You did really well with poor seeing. I hope you get some improved conditions.

Happy New Year!

Ken

Uwe, I wish you could have transfered all the detail you saw. It looks like you had an easy time with white oval Z. Thats a great catch and indicative of what you saw in the steady moments. Curious about that dark feature folowing the GRS. Probably a widening of the darker SEB core where the wake thins out.

Nice job, Uwe. I recognize that bumpy cloud feature in the north. It's quite beautiful. :)

Curious also about the differences between lunar and Jupiter sketching.

Very nice drawing, Uwe! Apparently the seeing in the city of my god (J.S. Bach :D ) isn't all that bad!

Uwe, this is marvelous. If this is all the feature you could transfer I'm impressed. More please.

Uwe,

Fine sketch of Jupiter. lots of detail present. Interesting feature following the GRS. The NTB also has WSZ and some other large "ovals" following.

Happy New Year. Dean

Thank you for your comments. The eddy trail after GRS I saw before sometimes. I was not aware that I caught the white Oval Z (at least it's southern outline) - I simply sketched wha I saw. Thank you for that reference!

Good sketch, Uwe! (And Happy New Year!)

I wonder, where does one go for an up to date nomenclature of Jupiter? Where do people agree on the "Oval Z" name for example?
