so is orion saying this better than an AP mount. AP(1100GTO) mount is 7 arc seconds peak-to-peak?
if so, this is a steal

For a few months Celestron was stating that the CGE-PRO was at 6 pk-pk as well. Now I think they are back up to 10. Remember though, it is more about how smooth it is than how low it is.

Wow that's better than my Mach1 and way better than my NJP!

Difference is, this is priced for people prepared to face a few minor mechanical problems and from what I have been reading on the internet these problems do exist. While buying a Mach 1, you will not have these problems.

You pay your money and get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with that, you decide what is your tolerance level and budget accordingly

Strickly on mount capacity and claimed performance, it competes with the AP1100GTO, which is $8.800 minus cwts, etc. May not appeal to the same market, but it will cost AP some sales.

Maybe, maybe not. I doubt AP is too worried, they have a good (well earned) reputation to stand on and there are people who would pay for that.

For people just looking for a mount at this price range there were already other options and that is who it really may help, get a bit more for their money.
