Finally we have a clear night here in Germany. I used my 12 cm comet catcher to look at M 82. The sky was not especially dark; I measured 20.2 mag /arcsec² at my rural site. The sky brightened because of the snow we have.

I tried to see detail in the gelaxy (beside the SN) which was not an easy task. i used magnifications of 60x and 75x. The image is mirror reversed.

I wouldn't say in Germany - to be precise: Only in parts of Germany. :(

Nice sketch--glad you got to see the SN. Looks like it is still less than 10th magnitude compared to the stars to the lower left.
